Montreal Autoshow 2025

The Montreal Auto Show 2025, showcased from January 17 to 26 at the Palais des Congrès, marked its 80th edition with a vibrant display of automotive excellence, innovation, and luxury. This year’s show stood out not only for its wide range of vehicles but also for the return of major manufacturers and the introduction of new electric vehicle brands.

Highlights and Innovations:

The 2025 event was a testament to the evolving landscape of the automotive industry, with a significant focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. Electric vehicle manufacturers like Lucid Motors and Polestar made their debut at the show, bringing their latest models to the forefront. The presence of these brands underscored the growing trend towards sustainable mobility options.

The Lucid Gravity SUV represents a significant milestone for Lucid Motors, stepping into the competitive SUV market with a vehicle that emphasizes luxury, performance, and sustainability. Unveiled with much anticipation, the Gravity boasts an impressive projected range of up to 440 miles on a single charge, powered by a 123kWh battery pack, which is only slightly larger than that found in the Lucid Air Grand Touring.

Performance is not compromised, with the Grand Touring model offering 828 horsepower, ensuring brisk acceleration and a dynamic driving experience. Its design combines sleek aesthetics with utility, featuring a spacious interior for up to seven adults, advanced technology like a 34-inch curved digital display, and innovative features like bi-directional charging.

Starting at $113,500 for the Touring and $134,500 for the Grand Touring in Canada, the Gravity positions itself as a premium choice in the electric SUV segment, aiming to appeal to those who seek both the environmental benefits of an EV and the luxury of a high-end SUV.

Luc Poirier, the ambassador of the Montreal Auto Show, also a famous collector and businessman, exhibited his private collection, one of the most prestigious in the world. All vehicles in his collection reflects the vision and performance the vehicle embodied at its time.

The Luc Poirier Collection, showcased over 30 rare and iconic vehicles, blending elegance with raw performance. This collection was a highlight for luxury car enthusiasts looking to see models that are seldom displayed publicly.

  • Ford Maverick Lobo and Mustang GTD
  • General Motors’ offerings like BrightDrop, Cadillac Optiq, Vistiq, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV Denali

Performance, Customization and Consumer Engagement:

The Performance Zone was another crowd-puller, featuring modified cars and custom designs. This area celebrated the creativity and personalization within the automotive sector, attracting those interested in the art of car tuning and racing aesthetics.

The show also served as a platform for industry professionals and car enthusiasts to engage with new technologies and automotive trends. The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) presented the “12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025,” providing insights into the vehicles that are setting the standards in categories like efficiency, design, and performance.

Moreover, the show was not just about looking; it was about experiencing. Free electric test drives, organized in collaboration with CAA-Québec and PowerQ, allowed visitors to get behind the wheel of nearly 30 different electric vehicles, offering a practical perspective on electric mobility.

The Montreal Auto Show 2025 saw an impressive turnout, with over 160,000 visitors reported, indicating a strong public interest in automotive advancements. The event’s success can be partly attributed to its comprehensive lineup of brands and the engaging, interactive experiences it offered.

A Look at the Future:

As the automotive world pivots towards sustainability, the Montreal Auto Show 2025 illustrated a clear trend towards electric vehicles, with traditional manufacturers like Stellantis making a notable return after years of absence. The presence of Tesla’s Cybertruck and other electric models underscored the shift, showing how traditional auto shows are adapting to include the new wave of automotive technology.

The Montreal Auto Show 2025 was more than just an exhibition; it was a celebration of automotive culture, from the roar of high-performance engines to the silent elegance of electric vehicles. With its blend of tradition and innovation, the show not only entertained but also educated the public on the future of transportation. As we look forward, the auto show continues to be a pivotal event for both industry insiders and car lovers alike, setting the stage for what’s to come in the world of automobiles.
