Monu Harnal was introduced to the Sivananda organization through her father who lived in Haridwar in India. At a young age, Monu was encouraged by her father to learn and practice yoga through the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center. Eventually she decided to take the teacher training course (TTC) at the Sivananda Ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala and followed with the Advanced Teacher Training Course (ATTC) in Val Morin, Quebec.
Monu has been teaching yoga in the Washington DC area for the last several years. Having learned the many principles of yoga, she continuously strives to bring the profound positive effects of it into her own life. Monu incorporates methods of Sakshi Bhav in her teachings, a very important aspect for one to learn and progress in the spiritual path. This helps her students in observing thoughts, actions, emotions and feelings without judgement.
She is an Instructional Designer who designs and develops training programs as well as conducts training around the world. Teaching is the common thread throughout her career as she guides and coaches everyone to speak their truth, to see their own light, and to create their own path to progress.
In service to the community, locally and globally, she put together Spirit over Mind over Body (SOMOB) World, a coalition of yoga teachers, mindful practitioners, holistic and ayurvedic doctors, healers, coaches, and more. She believes collectively we can change the negative mindset of the society, and bring peace into our consciousness through our spirit, mind and body.
Monu Harnal is a student of life – and she loves to learn and experience everything to its fullest. You can contact Monu through her contacts below:
